Ian Kendall is a Retired School Headmaster and current Treasurer / Membership Officer of the Blue Mountains Family History Society Inc, and will be presenting on Finding Women in your Ancestry.
Overview:
I talk about the difficulty of finding women in the 18th and 19th and early 20th century as almost 100% of women when married they adopted the husband’s name and the difficulty then when they become a widow. I also speak about my 5G Grandmother Elizabeth Everingham nee Rymes and the entries in the public record. She lived in the Hawkesbury after arriving in the second fleet and marrying Matthew James Everingham from the first fleet. I also speak, if I haven’t run out of time, about my 4G Grandmother Ann Baxter nee Rankin and her issues with court cases after she married a fraudster following the death of her husband William Baxter.
Our speaker will be followed by afternoon tea and our General Meeting.
