What we do

Our Library

Our Library is located in the Old School Residence, Great Western Highway at Emu Plains (entrance off Lawson Street), with a number of rooms.

We have a great number of books, journals, maps, microfilm and microfiche records and CD ROMs. Card indexes, cemetery transcripts, parish registers, and the New South Wales Government Gazettes are some of the references that can be viewed in the Library.

The Library is divided into a number of rooms:

  • Darrell Cox Room: The Library’s computers are located in this room, which supports the many local and overseas CD ROM resources and online databases including Ancestry, Australian Biographical Database and FamilySearch.

  • Microform Reading Room: Australian Births, Deaths & Marriages indexes and cemetery transcripts and reference genealogy book materials.

  • Overseas Room: Books and exchange journals from overseas Family History Societies, microfiche especially the International Genealogical Index and St Catherine’s House Index.

  • Government Room: Government documents, including government gazettes and maps.

  • Australian Room: Books on Australian locations, biographies, census records, convicts, pioneer registers, and more.

Nepean Family History Society is an affiliate of FamilySearch which provides access to their many records.
